GCC set to invest $968b in 1,638 new projects
Over the next decade, the GCC countries, underpinned by record high oil revenues, are planning 1,638 major projects worth more than $968 billion across various sectors, Kuwait Financial Centre, or Markaz, said. Over 80 per cent of these projects are construction, infrastructure and petroleum industry related projects, the report said.

“Presently, there are 250 new signal junctions as well as surveillance devices deployed in areas under development on Yas, Reem, Saadiyat, Al Sawah and Raha Beach, coupled with the construction of three traffic control centres in these areas,” said Al Shamsi.
Abu Dhabi gets bids for mega hub

New firm starts waste collection in Abu Dhabi
The Centre of Waste Management in Abu Dhabi has added a new waste collection company to collect waste in the Abu Dhabi Island. Lavajet, which had won a Dh300-million contract in March, started operations on July 10 along with Averda, another company which had renewed its contract for waste collection.
Insurance House expects breakeven within 2 years
Abu Dhabi’s Insurance House expects to achieve breakeven in less than two years, its chairman Mohammed Abdullah Alqubaisi said. Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the listing of Insurance House shares in the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange, Alqubaisi was optimistic that his company’s share prices opened with a premium of 15 per cent at Dh1.15.

Some of the ambitious projects Abu Dhabi has announced include: Cleveland Clinic ($1.8b), Abu Dhabi Metro ($5-10b), Sadiyaat Cultural District ($5b), Nuclear Power Complex ($20-40b), Shah Sour Gas project ($10b), New refinery at Ruwais ($10b), Mafraq–Ghuweifat Highway PPP ($2b) and Chemaweyaat Petrochemicals Complex ($25b).
